What's this page about?

I spent Summer 2012 in Buenos Aires, Argentina!

This blog was written to share my experiences with friends and family. I lived in an apartment, worked at an advertising agency and took classes for about three months.

Avant Garde Agencia Internship

Today, I started work at Avant Garde, an advertising and marketing agency here in Buenos Aires.

I took the hour bus ride there without any problems. Well, I got a little nervous around the 45 minute mark that I may be on the wrong bus and was in completely the wrong place. Then the directions I got started to fall into place and, next thing I know, I was there.

I walked in and met the staff that works there. Everyone was warm and welcoming. There was a brainstorming meeting in about an hour, so I hung out, ordered lunch with everyone, and talked about music/America/winter.

I jumped right into the work. Avant Garde does a lot of point-of-purchase display work, sales promotion and event planning. They work with Johnson & Johnson, Samsung and Quilmes, among other brands.
I volunteered to take up a project. Tomorrow, I'll be editing video for a Splenda promotional booth. We are also doing research and brainstorming concepts for a Samsung sales promotion.

Oh yeah, and all this happened in Spanish.

I couldn't be more excited! I'm going to take on as much work as I can while also leaving time for traveling.
